About This Blog

I started this blog primarily to spare my friends and family from candid Facebook rants most of them don't care to read.  I wanted a place where I could be honest about what I think and feel without shoving it in anyone's face, yet still have it out in the open for any interested reader to find.

For what it's worth, I'll give prospective readers and commenters a few basic caveats about myself and what I intend to write about.
  1. I'm an atheist, which means that I don't believe in any gods or supernatural forces.  I've spent a lot of time considering what I believe and why I believe it.  Trying to "convert" or "save" me is going to be a waste of time and energy.
  2. I don't align myself with a political party.  I identify with the left on some issues and with the right on others, and I'm annoyed with the left-right dichotomy as it is.
  3. Speaking my mind is bound to offend somebody out there.  If you think I'm wrongly criticizing a person or group, say so and say why.  I'll take it into consideration and correct myself if I was wrong.
  4. I challenge myself to be scientifically literate, but I'm not a scientific expert and I don't profess to be one.  I won't waste my time debating topics I'm not qualified to debate, however tempting it might be.
I encourage anyone and everyone to give their two cents in the comments.  As of right now, comments are unmoderated, and I'll be rather miffed if anyone gives me cause to change that policy.  Don't spam and don't be a dick, and we'll probably get along just fine.

The views expressed in this blog are mine and mine alone.  I don't speak on behalf of my friends, family, employer, or any organization with which I'm affiliated.
